NDSL #175: Research and Assessment Methods for Leadership Development in Practice with Drs. Dave Rosch and Lindsay Hastings

In this episode, Dan and Lauren are joined by New Directions for Student Leadership special issue co-editors Dr. Lindsay J. Hastings, Clifton Professor of Mentoring Research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Dr. David M. Rosch, Associate Professor of Agricultural Leadership at the University of Illinois. Hastings and Rosch recently edited NDSL issue #175, released in the Fall of 2022, and titled “Research and Assessment Methods for Leadership Development and Practice.” The group discusses measuring outcomes of leadership programs and contributing to the broader scholarship in leadership education.

Season 8 Intro: Research and Scholarship in Leadership Education

Dan and Lauren kick off Season 8 with a preview of their sessions with scholars, editors, and reviewers of leadership education research. They talk about the leadership research agenda, the process for writing and submitting a manuscript, and the opportunities and challenges with publishing. She is one of four honorees this year as part of the ILA's Leadership Legacy Program, which honors individuals who have made a significant lifetime contribution to the field of leadership through their published works and influential support of leadership knowledge and practice. In addition, Susan shares her contributions to the ILA community, including her service on the board, past presentations, and personal and professional highlights from this year's conference.
